McFadden Farms
McFadden Farm has been growing winegrapes organically for over 40 years, is a biodiverse farm with grass fed beef and air dried herbs, all family farmed and CCOF (California Certified Organic Farmed) certified organic.
McFadden Farm's own hydroelectric plant and array of solar panels allow us to produce a sizable percentage of the energy needed by our valley's residents and businesses - far more than the needs of the farm. We applaud those who claim carbon neutrality while exceeding the standard. The grapes we grow are sold to the nation's most famous wineries (Chateau Montelena, Sterling, Mondavi) and tasted by the nation's most famous wine writers (Parker, Galloni, Laube, Heimoff, Boone, Tanzer).
Our own wines made from our grapes are amazing expressions of the land's vitality, terroir driven wines of amazing drinkability, perfect for pairing with a wide variety of foods.
Visit the McFadden Farm Stand & Tasting Room in Hopland for a complimentary tasting of Chardonnay, Pinot Gris, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Noir, Zinfandel, Coro Mendocino, Gewurztraminer, Riesling, and Sparkling Brut. Present your "My Sho Ka wah" player's club card for discounts when purchasing our already affordably priced wines - all made from certified organically grown grapes.
For more information call (707) 744-8463; the McFadden Farm Stand & Tasting Room is open daily from 10:00AM - 5:00PM.
Guinness McFadden was born and raised in New York, graduated as a student athlete from Notre Dame, and served his country as an officer in the US Navy in Vietnam where he volunteered to fill the position of a fallen river boat captain earning a Bronze Star.
After a brief visit at Stanford's Business School, Guinness headed north, looking at Napa county before planting the first grapes in Mendocino County's Potter Valley in 1970.
Family farmed and grown organically from day one, Guinness has expanded the size of his McFadden Farm and become a leader in the organic and green growing movement, having been featured in documentary explorations of healthy farming.
